Female villians research (1)

Cersie Lannister
(Game of thrones tv series; A song of fire and Ice continued book series)

This female villian is one of the central antagonists of the popular tv series and the bestseller books. In the show she is portrayed by lena Headey. In both mediums, she is ruthless, calculating, arrogant and vicious when it comes to retaining her reputation and not letting anyone trample all over her.
Throughout the story she becomes one of the central figures in power at King's Landing, the capital city of the seven Kingdoms. After becoming a widow to the late king Robert Baratheon, she became queen regent and after her husband's death, she instantly put her first born Joffery Baratheon on the Iron Throne before he came of age under a false claim. This is because joffery and her two other children Myrcella and Tommen weren't Robert's but were products of incest from the sexual relationship between cersei and her twin brother Jamie Lannister. She always wants to prove to her father, tywin lannister that she can be strongly involved in politics, by being something more than sold off to marriage proposals like a whore. As tywin never took any interest in her and her younger brother tyrion when they were kids but only in the golden boy Jamie. She has a deep hatred for her dwarf brother tyrion Lannister after his birth killed their mother. She views everyone except her family as enemies.
I like from her character that she thinks she is ambitious, wilful and cunning in handling political turmoil after scheming her way into power but in truth she has no idea how to run a kingdom in the right way for the people and is only in for her own benefits. Even using the crown to oppose any house that threatened her rule in any way or doing anything without question.
But what I find more fascinating about her is how she abuses the power she is given from her poor judgement, impatience and short-sightedness when it comes to decision making through the events of the plot. This would create consequences to the people from her actions and what's worse is that she wouldn't care as long as it fills her desires and fits her goals. But when things don't go her way like being cut off from decision making because of her gender; other families worming their way into the power game like house tyrell or events that affect her children, she responds with either paranoia, delusion, jealousy, vengeance or distrust. Worse still she lacks the patience to listen to advice that's extremely important to the kingdom and surrounds herself with sycophants and dangerous advisors that would threaten the kingdom's structure when her delusion sets in.
Another thing that like about her personality as a villain is that she is one of the biggest hypocrites in the plot. This is from how she displays that she loves her children deeply but in truth she doesn't give any guidance or discipline to any of them. This in turn created joffery's self-centred attitude and vicious rule. Especially when he was the only one she ever took any interest in but his ruthless personality only came from cersei letting him do whatever he wanted without any sort of punishment. Ironically, when she gloated her husband's lifestyle and physique, over time she started to do the same things as he did when she become queen regent. This included frequent drinking, extravagant events which drowned the crown into debt and sex with her own flesh and blood or others of different family lines which serves as distractions to the pressure of ruling a troubled kingdom.
