5AD008: week 6 & 7 (9th march & 20th march): introduction to academic writing

Report structure

This table outlines the main sections that a report should contain.

Title page

Title: What makes non-conventional experimentation effective to be incorporated in stages of production?
Author: Matthew James Danks; Uni Number ID: 1308818; Year 2
Module coding and name: Critical and Contextual Issues in Art and Design, 5AD008
Course title: BA (Hons) Animation
Abstract/  Introduction

Introduction to the topic, rough overview of what is the question and what would this essay discuss. The areas it would cover in terms of experimental techniques used; films and animations that use this; and the people involved. The leading arguments that would be the main body of the essay
Contents

Paged numbered chapters discussing the arguments of experimental arts used in film making with relevant information of production notes, audience opinions; my own thoughts; documented discussion either written or visual displayed to back up my argument.
Research question/Main debate or argument.

Methods, case studies, examples to support your argument.

Why would directors/animators/production artists and designers use this in their film making? (Chapter 1)
Why would this be more noticeable to viewing audiences? (Chapter 2)
Does the use of non-conventional art help prove that production, particularly animation isn’t just for younger viewers? (Chapter 3)
These three questions would be placed into the setup of chapters from the given essay template.
As they are different arguments leading back to the main title, they would involve quick evidence of discussions in the main production stage that show how they use experimental art, culture and movements in their films; reviews from those who find this more entertaining; the sort of outcomes that use experimental art, well known to ones that people don’t realize that use experimental aspects; the people that you would recognize that have done certain types of films and animations.
Conclusions

Linking key points of what I’ve discussed in the main report back to the introduction of what this essay was covering.
References

Bibliography of where I got the information from that helped with the essay from all the links and resources I used. This would include the referencing of websites, books and DVD resources.
